Increase your awareness of the challenges and barriers faced by Australian families experiencing persistent joblessness, and the importance of breaking the cycle of disadvantage through social policies and programs.
Course overview
Intergenerational unemployment presents significant barriers for employment consultants, as clients often develop mindsets from a young age that can negatively affect their pursuit of employment. This cycle can result in long-term socioeconomic disadvantages for families, reinforcing the belief that employment is not a priority. This training module provides consultants with strategies and tools to better understand and support their clients. By doing so, clients have a better chance of overcoming the effects of intergenerational unemployment. Statistics show that 58% of young Australians whose parents received welfare also receive it between the ages of 18–26, highlighting the importance of breaking this cycle.
