Join us for a free Lunch & Learn session with Dr Shannon Schedlich, Chief Executive of Siblings Australia.

Siblings are often one of the longest relationships in the life of a person with disability, yet they remain largely invisible within service systems. This session explores the evidence behind sibling relationships and their unique contribution to employment outcomes. Through research and lived experience, it will highlight how siblings can support aspiration, safeguard choice and help ensure employment pathways reflect the whole person, not just their support needs.

This Lunch & Learn series is a collaboration between Disability Employment Australia (DEA) and the Centre for Inclusive Employment. Sessions are designed to provide evidence-based information and practical insights to support continuous improvement in practice and the quality of services for people with disability.

SPEAKER INFORMATION

Dr Shannon Schedlich is an experienced leader and advocate whose work is grounded in professional expertise and lived experience. With a background spanning community development, disability, and government, Shannon combines academic insight with personal understanding of the challenges and strengths shaping families of people with disability and chronic illness. As Chief Executive of Siblings Australia, she brings people with lived experience into the heart of program design, co-creating initiatives that are evidence-based, inclusive, and responsive to community needs. Drawing on her PhD in Australian history, Shannon has an interest in how stories, relationships, and social structures shape collective wellbeing.
