Lunch & Learn – Understanding Down syndrome in the workplace

Join us for a free Lunch & Learn session with Liz Christodoulou from Down Syndrome Australia. Liz will provide an overview of what life is like for people with Down syndrome and share practical guidance on how employers and colleagues can offer effective, respectful support in the workplace.

Liz will be joined by Eoin Gibson, who will share their lived experience of employment as a person with Down syndrome. Together, they will explore common misconceptions, highlight inclusive workplace practices, and discuss simple, practical actions you can take to improve employment experiences and outcomes for people with Down syndrome.

This Lunch & Learn series is a collaboration between Disability Employment Australia (DEA) and the Centre for Inclusive Employment. Sessions are designed to provide evidence-based information and practical insights to support continuous improvement in practice and the quality of services for people with disability.

Liz Christodoulou is a National Project Manager at Down Syndrome Australia, where she leads national initiatives focused on employment, digital inclusion, and accessible communications.
Liz has built her career on strong, values-driven advocacy, working to create real opportunities and lasting change for people with disability. With both professional expertise and lived experience, she brings a powerful and authentic voice to her work. She is passionate about supporting individuals, organisations, and communities to take practical steps toward a more inclusive world.

Eoin Gibson is an International Ambassador for Australia with Down Syndrome International and an Employment Ambassador with Down Syndrome Australia. Eoin has worked at Coles for almost a decade, bringing dedication, consistency, and pride to his role. Through his work and advocacy, he is passionate about showing what inclusive employment can look like in action. A confident public speaker, Eoin is known for his relatable style, natural humour, and ability to connect with any audience. He brings energy and authenticity to every presentation, sharing real-life experiences that challenge perceptions and inspire change. And if you’re lucky, Eoin might even share a few of his hot footy tips along the way.
