Lunch & Learn – Blindness and vision impairment in the workplace
In this session, Ben Moxey from Guide Dogs NSW/ACT will take us through practical ways to design accessible workplaces where people with blindness or vision impairment can participate and thrive. Ben will cover general considerations for accessibility and available technology to provide support, as well as misconceptions about people with blindness and vision impairment and common barriers they might face in the workplace.

Sessions are designed to provide evidence-based information and practical insights to support continuous improvement in practice and the quality of services for people with disability.

Ben Moxey, Emerging Technology and Accessibility Manager, Guide Dogs NSW/ACT
Ben is the Emerging Technology and Accessibility Manager at Guide Dogs NSW/ACT. He is responsible for finding, influencing and implementing technologies that benefit people with vision impairment or blindness into Guide Dog’s services. He is also responsible for ensuring a high standard of accessibility across the organisation and supporting external accessibility related advocacy and training.
Ben has extensive experience assessing and teaching blindness related assistive technology and is totally blind himself. This everyday practical exposure, combined with professional expertise and a slightly obsessive interest, has enabled him to provide unique accessibility consultation that goes beyond official standards.
