SPEAKER INFORMATION

Michael Healy, Principal Research Fellow and Knowledge Mobilisation Lead, Centre for Inclusive Employment

Dr. Michael Healy is the Principal Research Fellow, Knowledge Mobilisation Lead at the Centre for Inclusive Employment, at CSI Swinburne. Michael is a recognised leader in the field of career development and employability. An award-winning educator and researcher, his work focuses on promoting effective and accessible careers and employability learning in schools, universities, and community services.

Peter Bacon, CEO, Disability Employment Australia

Peter started as Chief Executive Officer at DEA in March 2023, having spent over 15 years in the disability employment sector. He began his career on the frontline as an Employment Advisor to claimants of health-related benefits in East London, before moving into a range of business development and strategy. He has always been passionate about the transformational impact that decent work can have on people’s lives.

Simone Casey, Principal Research Fellow, Evidence, Centre for Inclusive Employment

Dr Simone Casey is Principal Research Fellow, Evidence at the Centre for Inclusive Employment, CSI Swinburne. She has extensive experience in policy advocacy, research, and communications across employment services, community services, and welfare in Australia and the UK, including 14 years as a policy advisor at Jobs Australia. Simone holds a PhD in employment services and explores the intersections of marketisation, welfare conditionality, unemployment, and social security. She has written widely on the challenges people face within policy and contract systems and describes herself as a “prac-ademic,” translating research into practical strategies to improve employment outcomes for people with disabilities and others facing barriers to quality work.
