Lunch & Learn – Supporting Success for People with Cerebral Palsy

Join us for a free Lunch & Learn session exploring employment, inclusion and workplace success for people with cerebral palsy. Drawing on professional and lived experience, practical insights and evidence from the disability sector, this session will challenge common assumptions and highlight the strengths, skills and contributions people with cerebral palsy bring to the workforce.

Participants will gain a greater understanding of cerebral palsy, the barriers that can exist when seeking and maintaining employment, and the role employers and employment professionals can play in creating inclusive workplaces. The session will also share practical strategies, resources and real-world perspectives to support positive employment outcomes and help people with cerebral palsy thrive at work.

This Lunch & Learn series is a collaboration between Disability Employment Australia (DEA) and the Centre for Inclusive Employment. Sessions are designed to provide evidence-based information and practical insights to support continuous improvement in practice and the quality of services for people with disability.

 

SPEAKER INFORMATION

Zane McKenzie, Chair, Cerebral Palsy Australia

Zane McKenzie is a passionate disability inclusion leader, advocate, and speaker with more than 40 years of lived experience of disability, including as a person with cerebral palsy. Zane is the Inclusion & Belonging Manager at Scope, Chair of Cerebral Palsy Australia, and Board Chair of Villamanta Disability Rights Legal Service. Drawing on both lived and professional experience, Zane challenges perceptions, champions inclusive employment, and demonstrates the value people with disability bring to every workplace. His engaging, authentic style inspires audiences to move beyond awareness and take meaningful action towards inclusion.

Wade Costley, Board Director, Cerebral Palsy Australia

Wade Costley is a dedicated disability advocate and leader with lived experience of cerebral palsy and a strong commitment to improving employment opportunities for people with disability. He is Chair of the Lived Experience Advisory Panel and serves on the Board of Directors at Cerebral Palsy Australia. He is also the Website Information Officer for My CP Guide and a lived experience member of the Australian and New Zealand Cerebral Palsy Strategy Collaboration Group. Professionally, Wade has had a 30-year international career as a computer systems architect, working across 13 countries, giving him a global perspective on disability, workplace inclusion, and the value of gainful employment in building confidence, independence, and opportunity.
