Workshop 1 – Coaching Mindset: From Problem-Solver to People Developer
Overview
This workshop introduces the shift from a traditional “tell and solve” leadership style to a coaching approach that develops capability in others. Participants explore how coaching builds trust, ownership and confidence, and when it is most effective to coach versus direct.

What participants will learn:
• The difference between managing, directing and coaching
• How a coaching mindset strengthens engagement and accountability
• When to use coaching (and when not to) in day-to-day leadership situations
• How coaching supports people to build confidence and clarity in their roles

In practice:
Participants will reflect on their current leadership style and practise identifying opportunities to shift from solving problems to developing people.

 

Workshop 2 – Core Coaching Skills: Listening, Questions and Strengths-Based Language
Overview
This workshop builds the core micro-skills required for effective coaching conversations. The focus is on how leaders listen, what they ask, and how they use language to influence thinking and behaviour.

What participants will learn:
• How to listen with intention, beyond surface-level responses
• Techniques for asking clear, open and thought-provoking questions
• How language shapes mindset, motivation and ownership
• A strengths-based approach to building confidence and engagement

In practice:
Participants will practise listening and questioning in structured activities, using real workplace scenarios to strengthen confidence and skill.

 

Duration: 2 hours

SPEAKER INFORMATION

Linda Pierson is an experienced coach and facilitator specialising in leadership, mindset and behaviour change. With over a decade of coaching and facilitation practice, she works across corporate, government and community sectors, supporting leaders to build confidence, clarity and capability in themselves and others.

Known for her calm, grounded presence and ability to quickly build trust, Linda creates psychologically safe environments where participants feel supported while also being constructively challenged. Her approach combines strong emotional intelligence, practical insight and structured thinking to help people translate learning into real-world outcomes.

Linda brings significant experience from senior leadership and project management roles at Australia Post, alongside deep expertise in communication, coaching and behaviour change. She is passionate about helping leaders move beyond problem-solving to develop their people, strengthening performance, engagement and long-term capability.
