When you join Disability Employment Australia, you add your organisation’s voice to our other members at this critical time in the reform process. 

There are many headwinds facing providers right now and you are likely making tough decisions about budgets. This is the most important time to engage with policy in many years and DEA has proven its policy and advocacy credentials over three decades. 

This is reflected by our 2024 Member Survey, conducted in April, where our members gave us the following scores: 

  • 8.1/10 for overall satisfaction with DEA’s service
  • 8.7/10 for policy and advocacy
  • 8.8/10 for events and networking opportunities
  • 8.4/10 for keeping members informed
  • 7.9/10 for spreading and capturing best practice in disability employment

We plan to build on this over the next 12 months. First, by continuing to advocate for a strong, fairly-funded and well-designed Disability Employment Service – available to all people with disability in Australia. 

Secondly, by advancing the cause of disability employment widely including within the NDIS and by focusing on the ‘demand side’ by fostering disability inclusion with employers. 

We are also shortly to launch our new Professional Members Program (PMP). This is an added value inclusion for all members, in which employees will receive points for their professional development activities, leading to their Certification as a full member of the PMP and ability to use the post-nominal MDEA. 

As a DEA member you are entitled to: 

  • Regular meetings with CEO Peter Bacon and/or Policy Manager David Best to discuss policy issues and anything else besides!
  • Discounted tickets to the DEA Conference
  • Frequent (at least weekly) email bulletins, including members-only policy updates
  • Access to members-only events such as twice-yearly Leaders’ Forum events
  • Free enrolment for all staff into the Professional Members Program
  • The opportunity to contribute to and review many policy submissions (e.g. Performance Framework, NDIS Review, Disability Royal Commission response)
  • Advertising of all your sites on the DEA website
  • Voting rights and the opportunity to stand for the DEA Board
