Why are we taking a stand?
-
To ensure the best outcome for jobseekers or employees with disability and their employers
-
To address poor quality service
-
To prevent unnecessary instability in the Disability Employment Services sector
-
To oppose the Government’s decision to enforce 80-86% of disability employment services providers re-tender for contracts in 2012
What do we want?
-
A better deal for jobseekers and employees with disability, and their employers
-
A realignment of Disability Employment Services with the Disability Services Act 1986
-
For service quality to form a part of contract evaluation processes across the sector
-
Stability in the sector through a reduction in the number of providers that have to re-tender to 15-20%
-
For the government to develop more effective ways to meet their objectives of:
-
Testing the market,
-
Providing an opportunity for new providers to enter the sector, and
-
Exiting poor service providers
-
To work with the Government to realise the recommendations laid out in the 2011 DES Senate Inquiry Report
