Dylan Alcott launches Ability Fest with killer line-up
Paralympian, friend of triple j and all around legend Dylan Alcott is bringing a stack of acts together for his new project, Ability Fest.
It's a big party at Melbourne's Coburg Velodrome (the home of Gizzfest and Smith Street Band's Pool House Party) to celebrate and encourage inclusivity in Australian music, across intersections of age, gender, disability and race.
The line-up is heaving with local talent. Flight Facilities and Client Liaison top the bill with a back to back DJ set. Flight Fac will be dipping into their famed Decade Mixes, created for triple j Mix Up and have been touring them lately. Not sure how Monte and Harvey will play into that but we're keen to find out what other surprises they have up their fashionable sleeves.
You'll also get to have a boogie to Tkay Maidza, Jack River, Japanese Wallpaper, Kingswood, Boo Seeka, two-time Unearthed High finalist Ninajirachi and heaps more.
The event will be inclusive for people of all abilities, with a fully accessible venue, multiple viewing platforms for wheelchair users, and AUSLAN translators visible onstage for all mainstage acts.
Ability Fest aims to raise funds for Dyl's newly minted Dylan Alcott Foundation, which seeks to support kids with disabilities achieve their sporting goals.
