SUMMARY:Lunch & Learn - Leading for Psychological Safety
DESCRIPTION:Disability employment leaders operate in one of the most complex people-focused environments in Australia. Teams navigate participant barriers\, employer expectations\, performance targets\, compliance requirements\, and continual reform\, often while managing significant emotional labour. The culture leaders create has a direct impact on workforce wellbeing\, staff retention\, engagement\, innovation\, and service quality. When people feel psychologically safe\, they are more likely to speak up\, share ideas\, raise concerns early\, learn from mistakes\, and remain engaged during periods of change. \nIn this practical and thought-provoking session\, Kelly Mason\, CEO of Bounce Global\, explores the leadership behaviours that build psychological safety and strengthen workplace culture. Drawing on the BE Model for Psychologically Safe Leadership\, participants will learn how leaders can create greater trust\, clarity\, accountability and support within their teams\, while reducing psychosocial risk and building a resilient workforce capable of delivering better outcomes for participants\, employers and the communities they serve. \nDuration: 45 minutes \nFormat: Online via Teams \nFee: Free \nRegister: Lunch & Learn – Leading for Psychological Safety \nAccess: Once you have registered\, the Teams meeting link will be provided in your registration confirmation email. \nThis Lunch & Learn series is a collaboration between Disability Employment Australia (DEA) and the Centre for Inclusive Employment. Sessions are designed to provide evidence-based information and practical insights to support continuous improvement in practice and the quality of services for people with disability. \n  \nSPEAKER INFORMATION \nKelly Mason is the CEO of Bounce Global\, a leading workforce capability and leadership development organisation that has been helping individuals\, leaders and organisations build the human skills needed to navigate change and thrive at work since 2006. As CEO\, Kelly leads the strategic direction\, growth and industry engagement activities of Bounce\, working closely with employment services providers\, community organisations\, government stakeholders and employers to strengthen workforce capability and improve outcomes. \nWith more than 24 years of experience in the employment services and workforce development sectors\, Kelly is passionate about developing leaders who create workplaces where people feel supported\, valued and able to perform at their best. SUMMARY:National Panel of Assessors Session: High Intensity or Low Engagement? Assessing the Evidence
DESCRIPTION:This webinar will examine the gap between the level of support providers request and the minimal contact hours actually delivered. It highlights how low servicing undermines claims of high‑intensity need\, and why Assessors must rely on evidence rather than expectations. \nThe session reframes contact hours as a core indicator of genuine support intensity and explores how clearer documentation and realistic collaboration can reduce conflict and improve defensible outcomes. \n\n\nThis free session features NPA Assessor & Sector Trainer\, Fiona Forrest. \nDEA will introduce the session and provide a review of professional development priorities for the coming year. \n\nDuration: 30 minutes \nFormat: Online via Teams \nFee: Free \nRegister: National Panel of Assessors Professional Development Session \nAccess: Once you have registered\, the Teams meeting link will be provided in your registration confirmation email.

SUMMARY:Lunch & Learn - Setting people up for the next job
DESCRIPTION:Employment services are good at finding jobs. The harder problem\, and the one the research has pointed to for two decades\, is helping people keep them and build on them. This session makes the case that career development is the difference between placing a person in a job and setting them up for the next one\, and offers a free\, practical way to act on it: the Australian Blueprint for Career Development. \nDesigned for all ages\, the Blueprint sets out eleven career management competencies that can be worked into a routine appointment without new programs\, funding or forms. The session walks through what the Blueprint is\, why it is not age-bound\, and how an Employment Consultant can use one competency in one conversation\, illustrated with a worked example. It also draws on CICA’s research with the disability employment sector\, including what 250 practitioners identified as the biggest barriers and most effective strategies\, and what people with disability themselves say career success means: an ordinary life. \nAttendees will leave with four things they can do in their next appointment\, and a starting point for managers wanting to build career development into their service. \nDuration: 45 minutes \nFormat: Online via Teams \nFee: Free \nRegister: Lunch & Learn – Setting people up for the next job \nAccess: Once you have registered\, the Teams meeting link will be provided in your registration confirmation email. \nThis Lunch & Learn series is a collaboration between Disability Employment Australia (DEA) and the Centre for Inclusive Employment. Sessions are designed to provide evidence-based information and practical insights to support continuous improvement in practice and the quality of services for people with disability. \n  \nSPEAKER INFORMATION \nDavid Carney\, Executive Director\, Career Industry Council of Australia \nDavid is a recognised leader in career development\, with over 25 years of experience shaping policies and practices to enhance career services. As the Executive Director of the Career Industry Council of Australia (CICA)\, he has driven innovative\, research-based strategies to advance career development. His expertise spans career development policy\, practice\, and advocacy\, with a strong focus on evidence-based guidance\, workforce readiness\, and skills development. His work has made him a key voice in policy discussions\, shaping impactful programs that optimise human potential. Beyond his leadership at CICA\, David advises government and industry groups on employment\, training\, and workforce transitions\, influencing policies that enhance career development infrastructure in Australia and internationally. As a Board member of the International Centre for Career Development and Public Policy\, he contributes to global discussions on best practices. His tenure on the Australian Government’s National Careers Institute Advisory Board helped shape national career development strategies. Committed to innovation\, David has played a pivotal role in integrating career development into broader workforce planning\, setting a benchmark for national and international career services.

SUMMARY:The DEA Papers: 2 Making NDIS and IEA Work Better Together
DESCRIPTION:The DEA Papers is a numbered collection of papers exploring the future of Australia’s disability employment ecosystem. Each paper stands on its own\, but the real value will come as the collection grows. Every new paper will add another piece to the conversation\, creating a body of thinking that can be built on\, debated\, challenged\, and refined over time. \nThis is a free webinar in which Dr Ann Nevile and DEA CEO Peter Bacon will discuss the second paper\, Blended Transitions: Making NDIS and IEA Work Better Together. \nThe paper starts from a simple observation: people do not live their lives inside program boundaries or funding silos. Some people engage with NDIS employment supports. Some engage with Inclusive Employment Australia. Many engage with both. Others rely on community organisations\, support coordinators\, allied health professionals\, or family networks at different points in their journey. The problem is that while people’s lives are interconnected\, the systems designed to support them often are not. \nDuration: 45 minutes \nFormat: Online via Teams \nFee: Free \nRegister: The DEA Papers: 2 Making NDIS and IEA Work Better Together \nAccess: Once you have registered\, the Teams meeting link will be provided in your registration confirmation email.
