This session shares practical\, lived‑experience insights to support more inclusive and accessible employment opportunities for people with an intellectual disability. \nDuration: 45 minutes \nFormat: Online via Zoom \nFee: Free \nAccess: Once you have registered\, the Zoom meeting link will be provided in your registration confirmation email. \nThis Lunch & Learn series is a partnership between Disability Employment Australia (DEA) and the Centre for Inclusive Employment. Sessions are designed to provide evidence-based information and practical insights to support continuous improvement in practice and the quality of services for people with disability. \n  \nSPEAKER INFORMATION \nLuke Nelson and Brooke Canham\, who are both Policy Officers at Inclusion Australia. \nLuke Nelson is a self-advocate who has been active in the disability sector for the past 18 years. He has played an important role in supported decision-making policy creation as well as participated on reference groups\, educated Social Worker students about choice and control for people with an intellectual disability and supported people with intellectual disability understand their rights. Luke is often asked to present or be part of panels where he can share his personal experience as well as his professional experience through his roles with Inclusion Australia and VALID. Luke has an engaging energy and excellent knowledge of disability advocacy. In 2025 with Inclusion Australia\, Luke attended the Conference of State Parties in New York. \nBrooke Canham is an experienced self-advocate with over 5 years’ experience working in the disability sector\, currently as a Policy Officer with Inclusion Australia. She has worked on national projects and policy reform on a wide range of topics\, including supported decision-making\, employment and social security rights\, and health advocacy. She lives and works on Whadjuk Noongar Country in Western Australia.

He is responsible for finding\, influencing and implementing technologies that benefit people with vision impairment or blindness into Guide Dog’s services. He is also responsible for ensuring a high standard of accessibility across the organisation and supporting external accessibility related advocacy and training. \nBen has extensive experience assessing and teaching blindness related assistive technology and is totally blind himself. This everyday practical exposure\, combined with professional expertise and a slightly obsessive interest\, has enabled him to provide unique accessibility consultation that goes beyond official standards.
